Budget billing levels out your monthly spending and helps your household budget.

B-Y Electric offers two types of budget billing: Flat Rate Billing and Levelized Billing.

On Flat Rate Billing, the monthly amount due is calculated every six months based on the last 12 months of electric bills plus or minus any leftover balance or credit. The new amount will show on the January 1 and July 1 bills and be set for six months.

Levelized billing is a rolling 12-month average of electric bills. The amount may change each month but it takes out the peaks and valleys of normal electric use.

You must have 12 month's history to sign up. You will continue to receive your monthly statement in the mail unless you have signed up for paperless billing. Payment of your budgeted amount is still required by the due date each month to avoid penalties even if you have a credit balance on your account.
